Disabling Whatsapp from your iPhone is an easy and straightforward process if you know the right procedures to follow. What Happens When you Disable WhatsApp from your iPhone?

When you disable or deactivate WhatsApp from your iPhone, your privacy settings remain the same but you can no longer receive messages from your WhatsApp account until you reactivate the WhatsApp messaging app. You will still be part of the group you have joined when you were actively using WhatsApp and other contacts on your phone can still send you messages but the messages won’t be delivered to you until you reactivate the WhatsApp messaging app again. However, your contacts would be able to tell that you are no longer active on WhatsApp through your profile picture or last seen.

How to Temporarily Disable Whatsapp on a Stolen iPhone

You can report to WhatsApp that your mobile phone has been stolen by emailing them the phrase “Lost/ Stolen: Please deactivate my account” as the body of the email. Send the email to support@whatsapp.com. Then include your phone number in an international format by starting with a + sign and entering your country’s code followed by your full phone number. 

As soon as your Whatsapp has been deactivated, you will need to reactivate your WhatsApp account within a period of 30 days, if you do not reactivate your account within 30 days your account will be deleted permanently and all the data you have stored on WhatsApp will be permanently deleted too.

How to Disable WhatsApp from iPhone

If you want to disable WhatsApp from your iPhone without it working even when your phone is connected to WiFi, follow the steps below:

  1. Backup all your messages first before you start the deactivating process, you can use the Chat backup feature from WhatsApp to back up your messages;
  2. Then  touch and hold the WhatsApp icon on your iPhone home screen until the WhatsApp icon starts to jiggle;
  3. At the corner of the WhatsApp, tap on x;
  4. Tap on delete and then press the home button.

Alternatively, you can open the WhatsApp app on your phone, and on the bottom right corner of the screen, tap on the Settings option. Under settings you can then tap on “delete my account”, enter your phone number and then delete your account. 

If you still want to go back to using your Whatsapp account, you can uninstall the app again and restore all your backed-up data.

In a case where you still want your Whatsapp working with WiFi but not with your mobile data, you can disable mobile data from your phone and you won’t get a notification from our WhatsApp account when your mobile data is turned on. Here is how to do it:

  1. On your iPhone, go to the main settings and scroll down to the bottom of the settings will you can locate the WhatsApp option amongst the list of your installed apps;
  2. Tap on the WhatsApp icon to open all the options under it;
  3. From your list of the options provided, you can disable mobile data. You can also go back and enable the mobile data when you want to enable it.
